This talk discusses the role of vision, process, and people as illustrated by Kennedy’s speech calling for the Apollo program, the design and culture of Mission Control as envisioned by Christopher Kraft, and the role of Gene Kranz and his team of mission controllers as they encountered unexpected issues during the final moments of the Apollo 11 landing in 1969. These three facets of leadership will then be related to the challenges and opportunities of design leadership.
